2009 Budget Update
The 2009 Bentwater budget season is in full swing and the budget committee has been
working diligently on the 2009 budget to ensure that your hard-earned assessments will be efficiently and properly deployed next year. A couple of things that we wanted to
focus on this year:
1. Make sure that the Budget Committee is a fair balance of Board members, Voting Members and Community-at-large members.
We have been successful in implementing this policy with an equal weighting of three Board members, three Voting members and three Community members so that all levels are adequately represented.
2. Communication. Last year, the chief complaint was that no one knew what the budget and assessments would be until shortly before the Voting Member meeting at which time the budget needed to be approved. This year, we have and are sending out periodic updates through e-mail blasts to the Voting Members who are then tasked with
distributing to the members in their section. Hopefully, you have received these e-mails and found them to be informative and useful. If not, please e-mail your Voting Member so you can be added to the distribution list. The content has also been posted to the website and all communication will remain there until the budget has been approved.

Scrutinize all financial categories to eliminate wasteful spending if applicable or challenge other committees to work within tighter budget guidelines as well as coming up with creative ways to increase revenues so that funds needed to cover expenditures do not solely come from assessment increases. We are always open to suggestions on how to improve the communication between the committee and community, so please feel free to e-mail any of the committee members with suggestions you may have (or relay the information to your Voting Member).
